Leadership Group

Darryl Jeffrey
General Manager, Sydney Showground
As General Manager, Sydney Showground, Darryl is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of all departments of Sydney Showground, delivering over 100 national and international events each year, including music festivals, sporting events, exhibitions and trade shows.
Darryl holds qualifications in Business (Management), Procurement & Contracting, Transport & Distribution, and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Prior to his current role, Darryl gained extensive leadership and operational experience from a career spanning more than 19 years in the military. Since 2008, he has channelled those skills into a successful career within the events, leisure, and sports venue industry.
In addition to leading the world-class venue and its team, Darryl is also President of the Sydney Olympic Park Business Association.

Andrew Roberts
Director of Sales and Marketing
Andrew Roberts is the Director of Sales & Marketing at Sydney Showground and has run the sales team since 2017.
Andrew’s experience in the events industry spans over 20 years and includes positions in a variety of businesses across the industry, including Business Events Sydney and American Express Meetings & Events.
Andrew brings a strong understanding of all aspects of the industry having worked as a buyer and as a supplier. He operates with a focus on the customer journey and outcomes, building strong, long term client relationships.
Andrew has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

James Farr
Director of Food and Beverage, Licensee
With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, James has honed his skills as a chef in fine dining restaurants, corporate, and events catering.
As a dedicated and accomplished industry leader, James uses his extensive experience and expertise leading the talented Food and Beverage team at Sydney Showground.
James has served as a judge at the prestigious Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce Show and Fine Food Shows. He is a member of the Venue Management Association (VMA) and a graduate of the Venue Management School (VMS).
He currently holds the position of Licensee of the RAS and is the Vice Chair at the Flemington Liquor Accord, demonstrating his commitment to responsible liquor management in the industry.

Melissa Goodman
Head of Events and Venue Operations
Mel Goodman has worked in the events industry for over 15 years, and since 2021 has been the Head of Events & Venue Operations for Sydney Showground, successfully managing major events including Stereosonic Festival, ICC T20 Women’s World Cup, Knockout Outdoor, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 International Broadcast Centre.
Mel has extensive qualifications in Event Management, Crowd Safety, Risk Analysis and Leadership combined with a Leadership & Management Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Event Management, (TAFE NSW) and is known for her expertise and dedication to delivering exceptional event experiences.
Mel is also an instructor for the Institute of Venue Safety and Security (IVSS) andrecently accepted a position on the IVSS member committee.
She has been recognised for her achievements, including winning the Col Sanders Staff Award in 2012, and being selected as a Keynote Speaker at the VSX Conference in 2024.

Steven King
Senior Manager, Asset and Facility Management
A highly experienced professional with a diverse skill set in asset and facility management, Steven began his career at Sydney Showground in 2012 as a Ground Labourer. His career progressed through various roles, including Assistant Curator and Grounds Manager for major events, including the ICC T20 Women's World Cup, before assuming his current position in 2022.
Throughout his tenure at Sydney Showground, Steven has been directly involved in overseeing major site projects, developing policies and procedures, and planning and executing events.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Steven received the prestigious Col Sanders Staff Award in 2022. Steven holds a Diploma in Sports Turf Management.
He has also obtained certifications in Crowd Safety Management and Emergency Control Organisation Operations.

Laura Jackson
Senior Manager, Stadium Events & Operations
With close to 15 years' experience in the events industry, Laura embraces the challenges faced every day in the dynamic event management environment.
Since taking on the role of managing the Stadium in 2017, Laura has successfully delivered large-scale events such as X Games Sydney, HSBC Sydney 7s, FIFA Women’s World Cup Broadcast Centre, Pearl Jam, Green Day, and T20 Women’s World Cup. She also manages long-term partners of ENGIE Stadium, including the GWS GIANTS AFL team and the Sydney Thunder BBL Cricket team.
Laura's extensive qualifications in Event Management, Crowd Safety, and Leadership are complemented by an Advanced Diploma in Event Management from TAFE NSW.
Business Development Team

Shannon Green
Senior Manager of Business Development, Live Events
With close to 20 years’ experience in Business Development, Event Planning & Operations, Shannon is a seasoned professional in the venue and events industry.
After a decade in event operations, Shannon shifted her focus to business development. Through building client relationships and fostering key industry partnerships she has helped raise the profile of Sydney Showground as a premier venue for music events, leading to the successful acquisition of events such as RNB Fridays Live, Boiler Room, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, and more recently, Pearl Jam and Green Day stadium concerts.
Shannon was invited to join the ‘Ask the Experts’ panel at the 2023 Australian Festival Industry Conference, and in 2024, joined an elite group of industry peers earning an Accredited Venue Manager (AVM) certification

Meg Hooton
Business Development Manager, Corporate
With over 30 years of expertise in the convention, exhibition, and sporting industries, and with a diploma in Business Studies and Hospitality Management, Meg brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Sydney Showground Business Development team.
Prior to joining Sydney Showground in 2015, Meg worked in both the Government and Corporate sectors, contributing her skills to organisations such as the Australian Turf Club, Stadium Australia (Sydney 2000 Olympic Games), and various race courses.
Meg's passion for the events industry and her extensive industry network make her a valuable asset to her clients, as she is dedicated to bringing their event concepts to life.
Meg continues to make a significant contribution to the Business Events community through her involvement in mentorship programs, participation in award judging and conference panels, and her active engagement with industry colleagues.

Lorraine Elysee
Business Development Manager, Exhibitions
Since arriving at Sydney Showground in October 2017, Lorraine has been instrumental in securing numerous national and international events. Her diplomatic approach, active participation in the sustainability committee, and collaborative mindset have solidified her relationships with clients.
Lorraine began her career in the events industry in London as an exhibition sales and marketing coordinator for Promo salons. With an excellent knowledge of French, Lorraine collaborated with international trade shows such as Bijorhca, Vinexpo, and Silmo, and worked on the World Gas Conference and LNG series of events.
Lorraine's commitment to excellence, extensive industry knowledge, and her recent achievement, receiving Destination NSW Sustainability Skills Micro-credentials, make her a valuable asset in the events industry.
