Sydney Showground set for a sizzling summer of music
Sydney Showground is set to be the hottest place for music fans this Summer with a succession of festivals and music events due to kick off the party season early.
Recently announced, the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest party, Fridayz Live, is set to return to GIANT’S Stadium at Sydney Showground in November for a night of music nostalgia, featuring hip hop, RNB, and party hits from the 90s till now.
This year’s event boasts some of the biggest names in music including Jason Derulo, Boyz II Men, Flo Rida, Kelly Rowland, JoJo, 112 and more, promising seven hours of non-stop dance floor anthems.
February will see the return of the beloved Laneway Festival featuring headline artists such as Stormzy, Steve Lacy and Dominic Fike and more than twenty other local and international acts.
Capping off the Summer season, world-renowned electronic duo, The Chemical Brothers, are set to wow fans at the end of February. The duo will be returning to Australian shores for the first time since 2019, following the release of their new album.
Sydney Showground has long had a reputation as a premier music venue, having previously been the home of iconic festivals such as Soundwave, Big Day Out and Stereosonic.
However, Sydney Showground General Manager, Darryl Jeffrey, says the venue’s unique versatility has increasingly placed it as the primary festival choice in recent years.
“Sydney Showground is a multi-purpose venue, featuring both indoor and outdoor spaces, providing clients with the flexibility and confidence to operate a successful event in all weather conditions”, Darryl Jeffrey said.
“This spring and summer’s line-up of events continues to reinforce Sydney Showground as the home of music festivals in Australia, and the team are looking forward to transforming the space to deliver the best possible experience to all festival and concert attendees”.
“It’s exciting to see the next iteration of festivals coming through and creating their own identities and the ongoing support of music lovers”.
Sydney Showground’s official music season will begin at the end of September with Knockout Outdoor festival, followed by a jam-packed November featuring Fridayz Live alongside new country music festival Ridin’ Hearts, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe, EDM festival Dreamstate, and CCURRENTT - the world’s first contemporary Chinese music and arts festival.
